    I-5 NCEP Weekly Look-Ahead: August 8 – August 14, 2022 

    Construction Update Community Meeting: Save the Date 
    Enhancements to the I-5 freeway are underway! Please join Metro’s I-5 North County Enhancements Project for the next community meeting to receive updates on the construction activities along the I-5 freeway.   
    Project staff will outline upcoming construction timelines and provide you in the Santa Clarita Valley and North LA County communities highlights from recent activities.     Note: Prepare for weeknight lane reductions in both directions from 8pm to 6am between SR-14 and Parker Rd to support the below activities.

    SR-14 to Magic Mountain Pkwy
    Southbound outside shoulder excavation between Calgrove Bl and Gavin Canyon Undercrossing between 7pm and 6am. Signage will be posted along the detour routes. Prepare for intermittent closures of the southbound Calgrove Bl on-and-off ramps. | More Information

    Weldon Canyon Bridge rebar, concrete, and excavation work in the center median and along the northbound and southbound outside shoulders from 7am to 4pm and 8pm to 6am. Prepare for one-way traffic control with a flagger as needed at Weldon Canyon Rd/Coltrane. | More Information

    Concrete removal and excavation for the Butte Canyon Bridge between Pico Canyon Rd/Lyon Av and McBean Pkwy from 7am to 4pm and 8pm to 6am, as needed. | More Information 

    Center median and retaining wall construction is planned between SR-14 and Valencia Bl. Activities include sign structure work, excavation, shoring, and form work. | More Information

    Slope soil stabilization (soil nail installation) along outside shoulders in both directions between Weldon Canyon Bridge and Gavin Canyon Undercrossing from 7am to 4pm and 8pm to 6am, as needed.| More Information

    Magic Mountain Pkwy to Parker Rd
    Pile driving, excavation, and shoring installation in the center median for the Castaic Creek Bridge is scheduled from Monday, August 8 - Friday, August 14 from 7am to 4pm and 8pm to 6am, as needed. | More Information

    I-5 center median work behind concrete barriers will continue from 7am to 4pm and 8pm to 6am.  Activities include excavation, asphalt removal, and drainage pipe installation. | More Information

    Material deliveries to the work zone along northbound I-5 at Castaic Creek Bridge and Hasley Canyon Rd. Prepare for intermittent weeknight lane reductions on the Old Rd at Hasley Canyon Rd from 8pm to 6am and nightly closures of the northbound Hasley Canyon Rd on-and-off ramps between 7pm and 6am.| More Information 

    Essential Details

    • Work hours: Monday through Friday and Saturday, as needed between 7am-4pm and 7pm-6am. Crews will begin to mobilize at 6am.   
    • No two consecutive ramps in the same direction will not be closed at the same time. Detours to the next on-ramp will be posted for each closure.   
    • Traffic will be maintained in each direction.    
    • All lanes will be reopened by 6am each morning.     
    • No lane closures will be implemented during morning or evening peak traffic hours.   
    • The speed limit in construction work zones is reduced to 55-miles per hour.   

    Access to emergency responders will be maintained. Construction is a dynamic process, it is subject to weather conditions, and information is subject to change, visit the project website for the most up to date information and a weekly listing.
