About Raising the Curtain Foundation
Raising the Curtain Foundation is a not-for-profit organization located in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Our mission is to enhance the Newhall Family Theatre for the Performing Arts, an inclusive performance venue for members of the community, artists, students, and educators.
Built in 1941, the Newhall Family Theatre for the Performing Arts is a newly renovated, 529 seat, state-of-the-art theater located at 24607 Walnut Street in Newhall, CA.
Products & Services
Past programming events: Animation Showcase: screenings of CalArts senior shorts followed by alum animator instructor led demonstration. The Man Without a Face: gala atmosphere with a radio play production. Celebration of the Performing Arts: theatre workshop for students giving them a behind the curtain look at different jobs needed to put on a production ( lighting, sound, directing, costumes and props) followed by a community showcase of local SCV acts: theatre, dance, and orchestra. Community Cultural Showcase: in partnership with the Santa Clarita Public Library, a showcase of multicultural local talent from Argentine Tango, Sitar Music, and Ballet Folklorico and more. Sh-Boom! Life Could Be a Dream and Winter Wonderettes: musicals put on by Olive Branch Theatricals and sponsored by Raising the Curtain Foundation. Current programming includes a series for young children to introduce them to theatre in our productions of "Saturday's Kids" -
