In the area of advocacy, the Chamber has been instrumental in organizing the new Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee (PAC), which raised $25,000 its first year of operation. This PAC has been developed to support business-friendly candidates in local and state races, and it also can support issue-based campaigns.
The Chamber recently organized a trip to Washington DC for a broad-based community group. The group solicited the DC bureaucracy, as well as members of Congress for funding for a variety of community needs in the areas of transportation, healthcare, and economic development. This DC fly-in was the first time that a Santa Clarita Valley broad based community group attempted such a venture.
